Align Magazine Spread Design

These images are from a spread layout I designed for Double Take, Align’s Winter 2025 Issue. Align is a student-run magazine here at the University of Oregon that creates a new issue each term around a central theme, and this was my first time working with them. Magazine design is always something I have been interested in but had not gotten the chance to try before this. This process of working with a team of other creatives was very collaborative and rewarding, and I was able to push my design capabilities to a new place. I went through many design iterations in the process, and was torn between keeping the spread simple and stylistic or maximalist. Ultimately after conversations with the photographer and writer we decided that this simple and clean approach to the layout worked because it allowed the photos and writing to really shine and speak for themselves. I’m overall very happy with how my layout turned out, and I am excited to see it physically when it gets printed soon. The full issue and my spread in the magazine can be found here.
